Puppet Theater
Kartuli Geni created a special cultural and artistic space for immigrant children and families through Georgian-language puppet theater in America, founded by Nino Imedadze.
The idea behind the puppet theater is much deeper than entertainment. It was created to help children growing up abroad stay emotionally connected to:
the Georgian language, Georgian culture and traditions, imagination and creativity, kindness, friendship, and storytelling, and the emotional warmth of childhood theater. For immigrant families, Georgian puppet theater also becomes a cultural bridge between generations. Children hear the Georgian language, experience Georgian music and traditions, and feel connected to their roots while growing up in America.
In New York and across America, puppet theater has long been recognized as an important educational and artistic form for children’s development. Historic puppet theaters and marionette productions have been part of American cultural life for decades.
The vision of Kartuli Geni is to continue building creative theatrical experiences where children can learn, dream, and grow through art, while preserving Georgian cultural identity for future generations.
